Grand Island Community Chorus

On Sunday, Grand Island had its annual treelighting ceremony at Town Hall. As members of the Grand Island Community Chorus enjoyed the wind in the gazebo just outside of the building, Santa Claus was delivered in grand style... by fire truck! To welcome Santa, we sang his favorite songs, including "Oh Christmas Tree," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and more. He was a good sport about the whole thing, and didn't offer us an immediate supply of coal, even when we neglected to sing his very favorite song, "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." Well, I am entirely sure that that is Santa's favorite song!!!
After Santa finished making his grand entrance and went inside to visit with the children, the chorus returned to the second floor of Town Hall. We dumped our coats in the courtroom (that's where Santa's special helper delivers the coal on a year-round basis) and went back to stand on the steps to serenade folks with happy holiday songs. These included a rewritten version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas." We sang the Grand Island version... and received all sorts of great gifts, including... deer eating shrubbery... year-round construction... BEAUTIFUL STATE PARKS!!!... and more...
We had truly sung for our supper. Once we were finished singing, we had the opportunity to go downstairs and eat cookies and drink coffee!
A fun time was had by all!
Tonight will find the Grand Island Community Chorus at the Chamber of Commerce party.
At 7 p.m., Sunday, we will offer our Christmas concert and sing-along at Trinity United Methodist Church.
