The project that we were going to make was a wall hanging. The Orange Poppy Art Studio, which is owned and run by Bonnie Nevans and Crystal Still, is dedicated to the idea that there is an artist inside of everyone. The concept of process art is that it is the creation of art that is important, not the product. I had waited almost two years to do this project. On the day that I had scheduled to do the project, I had a conflict that I didn't anticipate (scheduling isn't my best skill!). The project that I ended up by doing was a painting at a fun paint night event at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. What could be more fun than paint night? And, guess what I found? A big mystery. On August 18th, 1590, John White, who was the governor of the Roanoke Island Colony in what is now North Carolina, returned from a supply gathering trip in England to discover... no one. I thought about songs that I know and love and chose "Memory" from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical "Cats." The lyrics from this musical are from T.S. Eliot's book, "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats."Memory is a powerful thing. It can be a friend or a foe. For me, it has been both. "...and then you will understand everything better." -- Albert EinsteinToday is the first day of the quarterly Ultimate Blogging Challenge for August 2021. I have been participating in these challenges almost forever. Each time that I participate in a challenge, I like to have a theme for the month. Sometimes, I stick to it, and, other times, I get distracted by the nearest shiny thing. It is a fun way to explore a wide variety of plays. Plus I really like the opportunity to get dramatic, to shout, to sing, and to make long speeches!
