Sunday in Grand Island
Today, I visited a bakery/cafe that just opened at 1879 Whitehaven Road. It's called Mama De's Mixing Bowl. You can get muffins, cookies, cupcakes, and all sorts of goodies at Mama De's, and there are a few tables, so you can sit down and enjoy your yummies. You can also look at local photography. All artwork on display at Mama De's is available for sale.
Baked Cupcakery used to be in the spot but they decided to switch to being a wholesale business so they vacated the site. Baked Cupcakery created the One Buffalo Cupcake with Kim Pegula, co-owner of the Buffalo Sabres. The cupcake is all about Buffalo. It has a salted buttercream frosting and is topped with chocolate covered pretzels, as well as pieces of sponge candy. It's sold at selected Tops Markets, as well as at the Wegmans on Alberta Drive in Amherst.

After paying a brief visit to the bakery, I went to the monthly farmers' market, held at the Knights of Columbus, 1841 Whitehaven Road.
That featured a wide variety of goodies for sale, including maple syrup, honey, eggs, meat, and baked goods. There was also hot soup to eat there or to take home. I got a bowl of butternut squash soup. It had a hint of maple syrup, which added just the right amount of sweetness to the soup.
It was thick and filling and scrumptious. And it was orange. I'm not orange phobic anymore. Besides, orange food tends to be highly nutritious. This soup was nutritious and delicious. I also bought, to take home, maple syrup and two types of loose herbal tea: organic hibiscus tea and organic allergy herbal tea.
Visit your local farmers market. It's a great experience. If you're in Grand Island or if you're near Grand Island, here is the schedule for upcoming farmers markets:
Saturday market: 1841 Whitehaven Road. First Saturday of every month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Market Monday: 2487 Long Road, from May 15th until October 9th, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Ah, Buffalo sponge candy. Believe it or not, I remember something like that from my childhood in NYC. I would love to have one of those cupcakes! Yum.
When I saw your post title "Sunday in Grand Island", my mind went immediately to Seurat's painting and the play "Sunday in the park with George". The colors and dessert choices were a perfect compliment to my memory.
