The 52-week photography project: C is for capturing the golden hour

The theme of week thirteen of the 52-week photography project is "the golden hour." The golden hour is the hour before sunset or after sunrise, when the sun casts amazing golden tones in the sky. The challenge for the week was to capture the image and find ways to turn the golden hour into a story.

During the golden hour, daylight appears to be redder and softer. Filmmakers like this time of day because of the softness of the sky. Golden light is not only soft, it is also warm.

I took pictures during the "golden hour" for two days in a row (Sunday and Monday).

On Sunday, I just went out of the house to take pictures. I got the glow of the rising sun between the trees.

On Monday, I walked to the river and got a glimpse of the soft golden light shining on the water and just above the water. Here are the images of the sky and the water during the golden hour.

Next week: Check out the week fourteen photographs. I hope that you're enjoying the 52 week photography project. If you would like to do your own 52-week photography project, you can start with week one at any time. Check out this website: Dogwood Photography's 52-week challenge

Beautiful pictures. I love the phrase 'the golden hour'. Describes the magic of that light perfectly. Thank you for sharing these.

Golden Hour light is my favorite, especially when it reflects off buildings and flowers. Sometimes it can transport me into another world. The blue hour that follows it has its own charm, too. Love how the study of photography makes you so aware of the various types of lighting.

Those are some beautiful pictures. I'm assuming you have better equipment than the camera on your smartphone, lol. I'd love to get into photography, but, have to be content with my iPhone 7+ camera features.
