The 52-week photography project: communication

The topic for week number 27 of the 52-week photography project is "communication."  How do people communicate with one another? In the below series of photographs, I will attempt to find methods of communication, both expected and unexpected. Communication can be verbal or nonverbal. It can be done through gestures and actions, as well as through words. Communication happens all of the time. We are surrounded by communication! Here are some of the images.

Do doors provide barriers to communication or do they encourage communication? Are they an invitation or a deterrence to communication?

A pair of birds travels together and communicates with each other.

Communicating by doing. Sending a message that it's time for breakfast.

Smiles communicate.

Food truck owner communicates by actions.

happy day in the sun.

"We're in this together."
Question for you: How do you observe communication and what have you seen lately?

A PURPLE door!! Yep, that speaks to me! And I see a purple life-vest, too!

I wish I had the consistency to keep up with one of these 52-week photography projects. I guess I need to try harder.

Nice pic of all the colorful kayaks on the water. It's been some time since my last kayaking adventure.

Yes, so true - communication can be done in so many ways. And photographs do indeed speak a 1000 words :)
I love the photo choices - they say so much about the people in the photo, and about YOU for choosing such great pictures :) Good Luck with your challenge!

I always find it interesting to observe the non-verbal modes, myself.

LOVE your topic this week almost as much as you! How intriguing~my Vinny, who is 9 and emerging verbally uses nonverbal communication primarily and it never ceases to amaze me! He uses clips from his favorite nick jr or Disney jr cartoons to tell us what he wants or how he's feeling! His newest hobby, however, is the most interesting; he is learning to be a photographer and loves to take screen shots. He then edits them-crops, uses different filters, and focuses them/zooms in on parts of the pic that he enjoys most! Love how he communicates using photos and video & that it's on us to enter his world!

Having an autistic brother in law has made me very aware of the various ways we communicate. So much of communication is non verbal and it is something my brother in law doesn't "get" easily. He misses out on so much, as a result.
