Images of the Grand Island farm dinner

Yesterday, the Grand Island Farms, Inc., sponsored the second annual Farm to Table Community Dinner at the Knights of Columbus Hall. All of the food was locally grown and prepared. It was quite the feast. It started with fruits and cheeses for an appetizer.
That was followed by a salad, applewood smoked whole turkey with gravy, slow roasted pork with honey, garlic, and rosemary glaze with gravy (hand carved), baby red mashed potatoes with butter, garlic, sour cream, and chives,

roasted butternut squash with maple and butter glaze, sweet corn casserole, butter and rolls, and a variety of desserts (pies, brownies, cookies, etc.). There was also delicious chocolate milk to drink.

In addition to all of that delicious food, there were drawings for door prizes and there was a basket raffle.

I did not win anything, but my sister Diane won a door prize. It was a trivet designed with a bunch of Celtic knots.

Entertainment was provided by two men, who performed a wide range of music, including country, jazz, rock and roll, and so much more. All in all, it was a delightful way to celebrate the autumn harvest.

Alice your blog is something I would share with my students I recently taught them how food reaches our plates from farm. It would add to it.

Farm to Table is a fantastic concept. I wish we had something like this in India. Not that we don't have it but it gets exorbitantly charged in the name of organic. Enjoyed reading about your day, Alice. Such a fun one!
